Sognefjellet National Tourist Route:

Route 55 across the mountain range between Luster and Lom is one of the impressive mountain pass in Northern Europe. This route passes through Jotunheimen National park. This route was one of the inspirations for planning Norway trip by car. We started early in the morning. After driving few kilometers from Skjolden, we start driving up the mountain range. Initially it was lush green everywhere  As we drove further dry mountains with patches of snow started appearing.

Nedre Oscarhaug:

This was our first stop on the way to Sognefjellet. Nedre Oscarhaug is an attraction on the Sognefjellet mountains. A glass telescope with the names of the peaks gives an overview of surrounding mountain range.img_4128

Sognefjellhytta:

Sognefjellhytta lodge lies at the highest point of Sognefhellet route (around 1400 meters above sea level). The architecture of the building seems attractive due to the combination of glass and wood.DCIM100GOPROGOPR1066.Along the mountain plateau, we found this stone sculpture in the middle of snow. It was not easy to walk on the snow to reach this sculpture. Mostly it was slippery and some places quite dangerous as even though it used to look solid, when we step on the snow, it just used to sink.img_4257Along with the beauty of the scenery the freshness of the air added to the overall experience. It was not too cold, nor warm even though it was sunny,  kind of early spring weather.img_4134 img_4133img_4685We saw many cyclists on the way and a dream sprouted within us as with a hope to come back  again and scale the route with the Bicycle…and …img_4556… camp in the location below.img_4115
