There is no more sagacious animal than the Icelandic horse. He is stopped by neither snow, nor storm, nor impassable roads, nor rocks, glaciers, or anything. He is courageous, sober, and surefooted.-Jules Verne

26 Oct 2017:

Kids wanted to visit a Horse farm today. We enquired at Laxnes farm which is around 15 mins drive from Reykjavik and they agreed that we can visit them. We were welcomed by this friendly dog. As the horses were getting ready to greet tourists, I got a chance to get near and take some pics.

Though kids enjoyed the rides, I did not feel as much happiness as I felt while watching the wild horses grazing freely along the country side.

After spending an hour in the farm, we drove past Þingvellir national park to visit Gulfoss waterfalls. Though everything looks rusty and lifeless, Iceland has its own natural beauty. Even the dry leaves look beautiful and as if perfectly made to add to the scenic beauty.

Þingvallvatn, the largest lake in Iceland! Reached Gulfoss around noon. It was cloudy and drizzling. It was cold and windy as well and pretty crowded though being called offseason. After spending some time near the falls, came back to the souvenir shop. Had heavenly chocolate milk, which I felt the best I have ever tested till day.

Our next stop was supposed to be a tomato farm by name “Friðheimar”. They have their own restaurant, where they serve home made bread and tomato soup along with many other delicacies. Even though we were not so hungry, we ended up having full meals with a special drink made with green tomato and ginger.

After the visiting the tomato farm, we drove to visit the Geyser. Last time we visited the Geyser, the big geyser used to erupt every 6-7 minutes. This time it was happening every 1.5 minutes once. And we spent lot of time taking slow motion videos of the eruption.

On the way back, we saw some horses and a parking lot nearby. In the parking lot, there was food automat, where we could place money and buy food to feed the horses.

After visiting the geyser, we drove back to Reykjavik.

We spent the evening walking near Harpa Concert hall and having ice cream at the Ice Cafe.
