After visiting Veitastrond, we reached Skjolden where our next halt was planned.   After checking into the hotel at Vassbakken camping, came to the town of Skjolden for grocery shopping and to collect information about places to visit nearby tourist attractions. The Tourist info was located at Fjordstova where post office, Café, handicraft shop, Public library, gym, swimming pool were also there inside the building. We had hot French fries at the Cafe. Staff in the counter of tourist info as well the Café who served us the Coffee and French fries were young and friendly. We did exchange friendly smiles with most of them and came out.

Fjordstova is located just on the shore of Lustrafjorden and the view is beautiful.

We walked around in this area taking photos from different cameras we had. We did not realize that we dropped our compact Camera. After we reached Flam, we got an email stating “we have found your camera. please come and collect” with the phone number. We called up the phone number given and asked how did they come to know our email id. They told us that they located Gudvangen camping in one of the photos that we had taken and called up Gudvangen camping to get our email id. I told them we are already at Flam and it would be difficult to return to Skjolden to pickup the camera. So, requested if they can send it to Germany by post and that I will pay for the postal charges. They agreed. After coming to Germany, after a week or so, we received the notification from German customs authorities that we have a post. We collected the package without any issues with Customs authorities and we find the below picture of the friendly & Honest Staff whom we met at Fjordstova. Feelings were beyond words. After confirming receipt of the Camera and asking for bank details to transfer postal charges, they sent us the details. And we thanked through a box of German chocolates.

Eide Gard Restaurant:

Being fed up of ready to eat soups and food with limited grocery, we ended up looking for restaurant at Skjolden. People at our hotel reception recommended this family run restaurant. Location was awesome. img_4775We  decided to sit outside as the temperature outside was warm and comfortable.img_3990Though price seemed bit on the higher side, pizza was delicious and large enough for 4 of us. And we ended up going there again.img_3998
