Flam Railway:

We had seen a documentary about the Flam Railway and that was the inspiration for all our Norway trips. First time when we visited Norway, we did this tour with “Norway in a Nutshell” trip by Fjord Tours. We reached Myrdal by train from Oslo and at Myrdal we had to catch the Flam Railway. It was really amazing. On the 20km train ride that operates between Myrdal and Flam, we see rivers & waterfalls cascading down the side of steep mountains. It had taken 20 years to build this Engineering Marvel, which contains 20 tunnels 18 of which are built b hand. One can know about the history of Flam railway and the equipments used during the time of construction at the Flam Railway Museum. We had done this trip as part of “Norway in a Nutshell” tour in 2011. We wanted to do this trip again and this time we started our trip from Flam-Myrdal and back to Flam. So many tourists from different countries. Whole compartments were booked by different travel groups.

Kjosfossen Waterfall:

We come across this beautiful Waterfall along the route of Flam railway and there is a short stop for Photos. Once the train stops, in few minutes a kind of Norwegian Folk music comes across the mountains and a Lady dressed in Red robe appears on the fort like structure on the mountain. In few minutes she disappears and appears in another location. It just adds to the Magical beauty of the Waterfall. Of course taking photos is very difficult without getting the Camera wet.

Flam Railway Museum:

Even though I am not a fan of Museums, visited the Flam Railway Museum because we had lot of time and did not know what to do. But later felt it was worth because we got an insight into the construction of this Engineering Marvel and the people who were responsible for the same.

Flam Camping:

“Flam Cabins” is one of the Best camping sites we stayed in Norway. Facilities were really good. It is located just 300 meters from Flam railway station.  Common amenities were kept clean. Staff were friendly and helpful.

Finally the last day we ended up yielding to our temptation to shop at the Flam Souvenir shop and got some warm Norwegian Fleece Jackets. After 3 days of stay in Flam, we started our return journey towards South of Norway to Kristiansand.
