Vidfoss:

Vidfoss is located on the left side of the RV13 when you drive north from Latefossen(around 7km from Latefossen). We could not stop the car as we did not see any parking space nearby. Just took some pictures from the Car. The shape of the waterfall amused me the most.

Vøringossen:

This waterfall (from river Bjoreio) lies at the top of Mabødalen in the municipality of Eidfjord in Hordaland not far from Highway R7, which connects Oslo with Bergen. There is a big parking lot along the R7 from where it is a short walk to several viewpoints of the Voringfossen. One can drive up to Fossli Hotel and from there with few minutes of walk one can have a great view of the Waterfall with the whole valley. There is also a path from R7 to the bottom of the Waterfalls which we did not explore.

While driving inside the Vallavik tunnel in Hordaland County, there is a circle inside the tunnel and highways depart. One diverts as R7 and the other as E13. We missed the way and drove on the(E13) Hardanger Bridge which connects Ullensvang and Ulvik. Took a U-turn and came back to R7 to drive towards Voringfossen.

As we were not sure if we could cover Vøringfossen on our way to Gudvangen, we decided to go to Voringfossen from Roldal and return and stay back at Roldal. Later we realized that it was not a good decision, because next day we were to travel the same way to reach Gudvangen.  We wanted  to  spend half a day at Voringfossen, but realized it was not worth the same because we were not fit enough(of course because of kids) to go to the bottom of the waterfall. And just to have view from top, one would not need much time. We had ice from the Café at Fossli Hotel and did justice to our plan of spending some time there.

Below is the view of Voringfossen from the View points which are accessible by few minutes of walk from the parking lot besideR7. One can see the Red Fossli hotel between the two waterfalls on the top.

If one takes the hiking route to reach the bottom of Voringfossen, one has to cross this bridge to reach the waterfall.

In the region of Odda on the way back to Roldal, we stopped at few points where the views were great. Reflections in the Fjords were very clear. It is very nice in Norway that in places where great view is available, resting areas are made with Toilets and parking spaces. You would also find Table and benches to sit and enjoy the view.

After coming back from Voringfossen, we still had time left to explore the area more as it was summer and Norway is known as Land of Midnight Sun. i.e. Sunset happens around 11:30-12 at night. So we decided to drive on the way to Nesflaten. We just knew there are some waterfalls, but did not know anything more.

Flesåna Waterfall in Brattlandstal:

This waterfall lies in Suldal Municipality. From Roldal it took around 21 minutes to drive. Road was very narrow and at times, we asked ourselves “was it a good decision to explore this place?” but there was no choice as there was no place for U-turn. There was no one around and only we 4 were there. We spent some peaceful time there tasting the water of the stream as it was mentioned on a board that the water is drinkable. As the water was shallow, kids could even play in the ice cold water.

After visiting Flesåna, we drove back to Røldal Guest house and started packing and transferring our luggage to Car as we were to start our journey towards Gudvangen the next day early morning. And so our 4th day at Norway was coming to an end.
