On the 3rd day of our visit to Lofoten, we visited several beaches which were accessible by road. As the weather forecast said it is going to be cloudy, we decided not to do any hikes on this day.
Ramberg Beach:
First stop was at Ramberg Beach.
Ramberg is a village on the island of Flakstadoya in the Lofoten. The highway E10 passes through the village. We crossed this beach several times while travelling to different places in Lofoten. The nature drawings on the sands of the beach attracted me the most.
Skagsanden Beach:
This beach is also located along the highway E10, just few kilometers from Ramberg.
There is a big parking lot near the beach. The surrounding mountains make this beach more beautiful. Though we did not go near the sand or water, we stopped here each time we passed across to take few pics.
Haukland Beach:
Our next visit was to Haukland Beach in the Uttakleivveien at Leknes.
This beach is around 10km north from Leknes. This beach became the favourite of my children because of its white sand and sea shells. There is a parking lot just before entering the Tunnel to Uttakleiv. From here starts the 4km hiking route around the mountain to Uttakleiv beach. As we wanted to visit other beaches on the same day, we decided not to hike, instead use the tunnel to reach Uttakleiv beach.
Uttakleiv Beach:
Uttakleiv Beach is my favourite beach in Lofoten. After crossing the Uttakleiv tunnel, we reach the village Uttakleiv. Its a picturesque village surrounded by mountains and beach on one side. It was so chill and windy near Uttakleiv beach that we could not stand there for 10 minutes. Though it was a Sunny day, the temperature at Uttakleiv beach did not reflect the same. We took some pictures and got into the car quickly. But we visited this beach once again as Kids wanted to visit Haukland Beach again. 2nd time the temperature was pleasant and the Sun was coming out of the Clouds once in a while giving a spectacular light on the mountains and at a part of the village.
Unstad Beach:
And the last beach that we visited this day was Unstad Beach.
In all other beaches, mostly we were only 4. But in this beach we were happy to see some people. Some were surfing, even though the tides were not so high. Only a part of the beach was lit with Sunlight and to reach that place, we had to walk around 5 minutes on sand. We thought it would be warm there, but once again we realised that it was same like Uttakleiv beach. We did not want to spend more time in the beach in such a cold weather. I really don’t know how people were surfing as the water was really ice-cold. We parked our car at the parking lot, where several camping caravans were parked as well and on the way to Beach, we saw a stroller with a small baby in it(around 200 meters from parking lot). It was crying nonstop. We were wondering if someone really left a baby like we hear in stories and were looking around. In few minutes we saw a person coming near and were hoping him to be the father of the baby. Luckily he was and we left the place relieved. After spending some time at the beach, when we were coming back to the parking lot we saw that the stroller was still at the same place. But baby was sleeping peacefully & Father of the baby was sitting on a portable chair on the sands of the beach around 300 meters away from the baby.
Kids did not miss any chance to play in the sand. Even there the request for having a dog as a pet came across through scriptures in sand. We had plans to visit Eggum Beach. But in this cold weather, it was more tempting to get back to our apartment and have some warm food. So we ended our Beach day and drove back to Hamnoy.
